About the Teacher
Angela Strynkowski, Sureśvari Devi
Owner & Founder of A Jewel in the Lotus Yoga
E‑RYT 500, YACEP
With over 30 years of study and personal practice, Angela has shared yoga with 10’s of thousands of people and has certified over one-hundred people to teach yoga.
Angela’s life journey of self-discovery and self-study began in her childhood and became a central focus in her late teens. Yoga gave her the tools for that journey. She is an interdisciplinary yoga teacher with extensive experience in several systems of yoga and the science behind them.
Angela was introduced to Oncology Yoga, specifically Yoga for Breast Cancer Recovery through her friend and mentor Diana Ross, the creator of Breast Cancer Yoga and the original owner of Inner Spirit Yoga Center in East Northport NY. Diana was a breast cancer survivor and Master Yoga Teacher who trained and mentored Angela to teach Yoga for Breast Cancer Recovery.
Angela has been sharing Restorative Yoga for Breast Cancer Recovery for many years, privately and in group settings. She has also trained yoga teachers in her adaptation of this program, combining her years of experience in other yogic methods with Oncology Yoga to produce a well-rounded practice that addresses the various needs of breast cancer survivors.
To enhance her knowledge on this subject, Angela completed Yoga4Cancer in 2020, a 100-hour teacher training, with Teri Prinstet.
Her natural love for people is the drive behind her desire to share her understanding of the science and practice of yoga. To Angela, this is her goal and life’s purpose; to encourage and challenge her students physically, mentally, and spiritually by allowing them to find their own way to yoga. You will find an element of focus and concentration, well-balanced with lightness, joy, and a sense of humor in all her classes. Practitioners are guided to experience and live their personal understanding of YOGA… of UNION.
